Ruby's birthday

No wonder I'm exhausted from December-February, birthday celebrations here are week long productions. lol  Here's the rundown of how we spent Ruby's actual birthday on Friday:

Wake up:

After our traditional early morning picture we opened presents.  And boy, were there a lot of them (but not really from us)!  Thanks to all the aunts and uncles who remembered our little girl--she felt very spoiled.

She really is a great sister.  To make Wyatt feel included she gave him presents to help her unwrap.  He was being such a good sport that we also let him open a present early-- a gummy bear night light.

Ruby also got one, so they had lots of fun playing with them together while we made her favorite breakfast-- German pancakes.  After eating we made time to conduct her birthday interview and take her measurements before heading off to the gym.  She has grown 2 whole inches since the fall-- slow down, baby!

After breakfast we headed to the gym.  And she insisted that she wear her birthday crown.  It was kind of adorable.
The next thing on our agenda was lunch with the grandmas at Chick-Fil-A.  Both Ruby and Wyatt were in Heaven.  They love that place!  After eating, visiting, playing, and unwrapping presents we headed off to the grocery store.  I felt a little guilty shlepping  her out on an errand, but I had been sick all week and we were in serious need of groceries.  I promised her a balloon or a flower since it was her birthday.  Grandma Mimi was also with us, so she ended up with both.  lol
After we got home she requested that we watch The Little Mermaid (Papa Gary sent it to her for her birthday).  She was on cloud nine-- can you imagine?
Then we made homemade French bread pizza for dinner.  As soon as Brandon got home from class we headed off to the Sweet Tooth Fairy to pick out birthday cupcakes and back to the gym to swim.  We spent an hour in the pool diving and playing and jumping on Daddy.  (Somehow I was mostly spared).

We capped off the night with birthday cupcakes.  When Brandon asked her what she wished for as she blew out her candle she refused to divulge her secret-- afterall, Daddy, it doesn't come true if you tell it!  5 and sassy and ready for another year.  So glad you're part of our family, Ruby Do.
