Goodbye

Many of you have probably already heard the sad news--Sunday night President Gordon B. Hinckley (prophet and president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Later-day Saints) passed away. As soon as Brandon and I found out we got down on our knees and gave a prayer of thanks for his great life of service. We both had a deep love for him and admiration of his positive attitude and generous spirit. Even though neither of his meet him, we always felt his love for the Savior and are hugely grateful for all that he did to better the world. Our prayers are with his family and the man who will be called and sustained as our new prophet.

I need an immune system transplant!

Okay, so now I've been sick 4 times since the first of December! It all started when I was on vacation in Utah for Brandon's holiday party. I ended up extending our stay at my inlaws and making a trip to the instacare clinic. Turns out that I probably had food poisoning. Not long after, I had a second and third round of flu like symptoms. Then earlier this week my sweet husband gave me a cold. By the time I got the cold I was so tired of being sick that I went on with life as if I wasn't-- I made it to the gym 4 times and didn't take one sick day at work. I'm finally feeling better, but am sure that someone who went to work or the gym last week won't have such a great time this week. Sorry if it's you.

Home Sweet Home

For those of you who haven't made it down to Houston to visit yet, I decided to post a few pictures of our pad. We're still in decorating mode (and probably will be for a few years-- furniture is pricey), but we love our first place.

This morning I saw Mr. Fuzzy Pants trotting out of our bedroom with something in his mouth. It looked like a cotton ball, so I figured that he had discovered our bathroom trash can. When I got to the crime scene it was much more exciting than I expected- he discovered the toilet paper roll! Good thing the culprit is so cute or else he'd be in a lot of trouble.

Here's to New Year's Resolutions.

After viewing my friends' blogs I made a New Year's Resolution to get with the times and create one for our family, too. I hope that this will be a fun forum for staying in touch with those we love and miss while we're "deep in the heart of Texas." Have a blessed and happy New Year. Just for fun, I'm also posting a few of our vacation pictures.
