Growing up I loved dancing. 
I always secretly hoped that I'd have a little girly-girl who'd love it as much as I do. 
Just in case Ruby grows up to prefer soccer and swimming to ballet, I took these pictures. 
Just as I imagined, she's tutu cute for words.
Brandon and I are always on the lookout for fun family activities (especially indoors ones so that we can beat the Houston heat). 
When I heard that Houston was having an dog show at the Reliant Arena I thought it sounded fun. As it turns out, it was. 
We had a great time watching the dogs parade around and compete in all kinds of competitions. We all loved the Frisbee catching event, strong dog contest, and agility courses; but our favorite was fly ball. (It's basically a dog relay race where one team of dogs races against another.) 
Scout would have loved it. Next year he gets to come for sure! The best part, though, was people watching. We saw some CRAZY folks there... 
In other news, I recently found out that I need a root canal and we think that Ruby might be teething. So, Brandon has had to put up with 2 crabby little ladies-- bless his heart.
We're also getting ready for Brandon's big family reunion. We can hardly wait for this adorable little shortcake to meet her Great Grandparents and Aunts and Uncles.
This past week I had the opportunity to take Ruby home to California to meet my family and play at the beach. The weather was fantastic, the beach was awesome, and the company was excellent. 
We played in the pool, 
tried our hand at a little miniature golf, 
walked on the beach, 
ate on the boardwalk, 
put our feet in the sand, 
jumped in the ocean, 
touched everything we could in the tide pools, 
visited with family, 
made new friends,
caught up with old friends,
ate like kings, 
worked on our tans, 
and at the end of the week we collapsed. Thanks to everyone for squeezing us into your schedules. We love you all.
Over the fourth of July we made a spontanous trip to Galveston Island. 
We rented an ocean front condo with some friends. The weekend was spent swimming, eating, floating, lounging, and napping-- and we loved every minute of it! 
Blessed be the summer (as long as you can escape the Houston heat).
