Our home in Texas is finally under contract! We closed on our house in Draper on Thursday afternoon and got the keys on Friday! Oh, and our furniture will be here on Monday morning, which is Ruby's 2nd birthday! Yay!!!!!!!
Yesterday I went to the doctor for my 36 week appointment and found out that the baby is head down (but hasn't dropped) and I'm dilated to 1.5 cm and 50% effaced. He reassured me that I'm on track to deliver on my due date (not early), but I'm a little nervous this babe is coming early. I feel (and look) HUGE, plus I didn't dilate or thin out at all until AFTER Ruby's due date.
Brandon will be in Texas from Sunday to Thursday so that he can supervise the moving company and attend a bunch of important work meetings. We're supposed to close on our Draper home next Thursday afternoon. Our furniture and belongings are slated to arrive in Utah between January 31st (which is also Ruby's 2nd birthday) and February 6th. I'm going to guess that chances are pretty good that I'll go into labor before February 18-lol!
Little Ruby Girl has turned into Little Ruby the Parrot. She repeats EVERYTHING you say. Sometimes it's especially hilarious (like when you say "Oh, come on!" to the guy in front of you who is driving super slow).
She has become very attached to Pengie (her stuffed penguin) and Pooh mankie (her Winnie the Pooh blanket). She NEEDS both to sleep at night. Last night we couldn't find Pooh mankie anywhere. I even took her around the house to help me search for it. She told me that it was in the kitchen, but when we couldn't find it we put her to bed and continued looking. Eventually it was found in her kitchen. I guess she knew where it was all along.
My mom's dog Molly barks a lot. I guess we all shout "Molly, shh!" frequently because Ruby pipes up and does the same when she hears her barking now.
"Nuggle, nuggle" (followed by a a hug) is Ruby speak for "snuggle, snuggle."
I have no idea why but "donchee" is Ruby's way of pronouncing dinosaur.
When she wants you to hold her she phrases the request in this manner: "Hold you me! Pleeeeze"
Share is definitely Ruby's favorite word. She employs it when it works to her advantage or she wants something. For example, yesterday she saw a balloon and said, "share balloon."
Bath time is her favorite time of the day. She frequently takes one in the morning and one at night. I rarely ever get to take one by myself anymore because she'll stand at the door and request "Mommy share bath pleeeeeze" and whimper until I give in. At least she says "thank you" when I open the door. :)
A few days ago we made an offer on a house in Draper and we just found out today that it was accepted! They want to close on January 31, though, so we have to move at light speed in order to get the loan and all of our due diligence taken care of before the end of the month. We're really excited about this home. It has so much character and is in a great location (across the street from a park and elementary school). It's a little older and needs some updating, but not an overwhelming amount. I'm actually looking forward to fixing it according to our liking together. Now, let's just pray that the baby does not come early...

Between Christmas and the new year Brandon took time off of work because things were slow and we had so much to celebrate. This year was the first time in 3 years that we actually spent Christmas Eve and Christmas day with our families. It was so nice to have time together, especially with my siblings and niece (who I usually only get to visit with once or twice a year). 
Ruby had a great time opening presents and participating in the annual family Christmas pageant (she was an angel). And the gift that Santa left her was a hit-- a pink kitchen and apron. Not a day goes by that she doesn't want to cook or wear her apron around the house. Hopefully she'll learn to be a better cook than Mommy...
On our anniversary (Dec. 28th) Brandon and I escaped to Salt Lake and spent the night at the Grand America while my mom and sister-in-law babysat the Rooster. My wonderful husband even surprised me with a massage at their spa-- so luxurious! (I have to admit that living near family has it's perks.)
The day after we got back from our anniversary retreat we found a rental condo and wouldn't you know that not even 24 hours after signing the lease and giving the landlords our deposit we made an offer on a great home in Draper! Good thing it is a month to month lease...
On New Year's Eve we celebrated my mom's birthday and now we're gearing up for my birthday on Friday, a move at the end of the month, Ruby's birthday on the 31st, and the arrival of our baby boy in mid February!
Brandon's youngest sister Brooke is an amazing ballerina. She has been dancing since she was probably 4 or 5 years old. Every year it's tradition to see her perform in the Nutcracker. This year we decided to take Ruby. She sat through the entire first act and about a third of the second. As soon as she saw Aunt Brooke dancing she said, "Book" over and over. She was also mesmerized by the "cracker" (translation: nutcracker) and the Christmas tree in the foyer.
The week before Christmas we got the opportunity to fly to Texas. Brandon and I were invited to a company dinner at Kirby's..mmm... and our wonderful friends the Larsons watched Ruby until late at night so that we wouldn't have to get a babysitter. Thanks again, guys! While we were there we also took care of some business with our home and tried to visit all of our favorite friends and places in Houston. 
We went to Bear Branch Park, had a fish fry with our Texas family, watched the BYU game at the Larsons, had a game night with the VanDukers, went on several bike rides around our neighborhood, ate at our favorite restaraunts, had a play date with Rylie and Olivia, attended church with some old friends, and even visited Santa at Market Street. The best part though, was crashing in our own beds in our own home. Oh, and it was sooooo warm!!!! :) 
It was an awesome trip and made me feel like Christmas had come early. I'm so glad we got the chance to go back home once more before I got too big to travel. Next time we make it down there (and I'm hoping that it won't be too long before we do) we'll have a wee one in tow!
