I have to confess that I love having a little girl with whom I can play dress up.
On Sunday I put her in a handmade vintage dress that belonged to my mom when she was a baby.
The pink sweater she wore over it was made for me when I was a wee one.
So sweet... I wish she wasn't growing so quickly!
PS-- Doesn't this last picture just scream "girl power!"? I love it!

Baby, what color are your eyes going to be?
I know it takes a few more months before Ruby's eye color is set, but I can't resist wondering if she'll have my light browns or Brandon's baby blues.

Nursery Pics
We had the room painted and furniture assembled by the time Ruby got home from the hospital, but it has taken me nearly 3 months to finish up the details. I may not be Candice Olsen or Vern Yip, but I'm pretty happy with the results. Check it out...
Behold, the most comfortable rocking chair in the world.
This is the most boring wall in the room. I'm thinking of spicing up the letters with paint or scrap booking paper.
This was a family affair-- Mom made the curtains, Brandon hung the blinds, and my dad hung the shelf-- I believe in outsourcing.
The changing station/dresser.
A close up picture of today's project.

Rollin
A few weeks ago Ruby started rolling from her tummy to her back. The first time I saw it was when my dad was here visiting about 3 weeks ago. I thought it was an accident, but when my grandma arrived we witnessed the munchkin do it several times in a row and realized that she had hit a new milestone. How exciting! Here's some action pics. I'll post a video soon (as soon as I sit down and figure out how to do it).
Step one: push up and arch
Step two: lean
Step three: celebrate success by checking out the new view and kicking legs

Texas Style Hoe Down
Resting up on the ride.
Tonight at church we had a hoe down bbq dinner.
Look at those boots!
It was a great excuse to put on mine and Ruby's cowboy boots (Brandon doesn't have a pair-- shocking, I know).
You can't tell in the picture but Eli has on an outfit with a horse on it. Ruby's bib says, "Cutest Little Cowgirl."
We had a great time.
Contemplating line dancing...
Good thing I wrote it on the calendar-- we almost forgot about it.
Posing on the bale of hay on our way out the door.
One confession, though, cowboy boots hurt my feet. Give me some time and I'll forget all about it and put it 'em back on for another hoe down.

Buddies
Scrubby, scrubby
Ruby and Rylie in the tub.
Ruby has been having fun with her buddies. Someday these pictures will embarrass her, so I've got to show them off while I can.
Ruby and Eli are old friends. They were born six days apart and having been going for daily walks together since they were about 3 weeks old.
Here's looking at you kid.

More Visitors
This past week Ruby got to meet her Great Grandma Ruby for the first time. They got along famously.
Grandma was so excited about her that wherever we went she rode in the backseat of the car just to be near her.
Little Ruby also got to meet her Uncle Chris, Aunt Brooke, Grandpa Linford, and see her Grandma Linford for the second time. Everyone adored her (as expected).
The kids were especially excited about playing with our little one.
We loved seeing everyone and Ruby loved all the attention. We wished they all lived closer.

Easter Blessings
This year we had our very own little Easter Bunny.
She was a little sleepy,
but super adorable in everything she wore.
This is my mom's blessing dress (mine and Ruby's as well). Vintage is so in.
Brandon gave her a beautiful blessing at church.
Thanks to all the fam who were able to come out and be with us on this special day.

Grandpa Gary's Visit
This weekend my dad flew into Houston to meet Little Miss Ruby.
They were friends at first sight.
Every morning she woke up happy to see him.
He took her on a nature hike,
spoiled her with cute presents,
took her to see the Easter Bunny,
and made her smile.
Grandpa Gary, remember next time you're lonely that "some bunny" in Houston loves you.

2 months old!
Shocking-- a picture with out a bow!
On Tuesday Ruby turned 2 months old. In addition to the standard check up she had her first round of immunizations. I was nervous that she'd be super fussy afterward, but actually they just made her sleepy. Here are her stats:
11 lbs (50%) -- BTW, the week before at her weight check she was just 9 lbs 14 oz!
23 1/2" (80%)
She is finally starting to grow at a quicker pace now that I've stopped trying to nurse exclusively. Until it becomes inconvenient, I'm going to keep supplementing my breast milk with formula. (I'm sure we'll switch to strictly formula sometime within the next few months). So far it's working out for us-- she's less fussy, sleeps better, and is bulking up. I guess we can't ask for more than a happy, healthy baby.
She is at a fun stage now. Our little girl loves to coo and smile. After modifying our swing (Brandon took the tray off and set it to the recline position) she now LOVES her swing. In fact, Ruby Roo has been known to sleep in it for hours-- hallelujah!
She is also sleeping in her cradle at night. I know, you're thinking who is this girl? It's true-- she'll usually do 2 four hour stretches, so if you add up the time I get to sleep at night it almost equals 8 hours-- from here it can only get better, right?
In other news, in the next few weeks she gets to meet her Grandpa Shadowen, Great-Grandma Ruby, Uncle Chris, Aunt Brooke, and Grandpa Linford. How exciting for our little peanut butter puff! We'll post pics as soon as we can.
