Okay, the movie version of Twilight is in production. Is anybody else as excited as I am?!!! This is going to be a great year for Twilight fans-- the last book in the series will be released August 2 and the movie will come out December 12. AWESOME-- my day just got a million times better!
Today the kids in my class had to write in their journals about what they'd do if they were president of the United States. Here are some of their responses:
"I'd paint the White House blue and put my name on the gate with diamonds. Then I'd put a basketball hoop and jacuzzi in the Oval Office."
"Every Saturday would be crazy hair day and if you didn't do it the police could throw you in jail for the night and you'd STILL have to wear crazy hair."
"We'd have pajama day."
"Everyone would get free ice cream on my birthday."
"I'd make class clowns and bullies illegal so kids could learn."
"Every day would be Christmas."
"I'd teach people to get along."
It was funny and insightful. Even though my job is tough, I really love these kiddos.
Yesterday I noticed that the flowers around my tree looked a little sad. Turns out they do better in the shade. Since I was feeling pretty motivated I made a trip to Home Depot and bought a pot so that I could relocate them. I also purchased some new flowers to plant around the tree. I love the way it turned out. I feel like I am redeeming myself for last week's disasters.
So, this is what it means to grow like a weed!

Don’t trust anyone on HGTV who says, “It’s easy. You can do this at home.” They all make decorating look so easy, but I’m on to them. A few weeks ago I saw Vern Yip mount rod iron pieces in a bathroom just above the tub. It looked so romantic and I thought it was something I was capable of doing.
Well, earlier this evening I gave it a go. After at least an hour of trying to properly measure, line up, arrange, and mount four square pieces of rod iron on my bathroom wall all I ended up with were nine giant holes (I was trying to use drywall anchors) and a project that doesn’t even remotely resemble Mr. Yip’s masterpiece.
It is apparent that the domestic goddess gene ended with my mother. She can do anything- design, decorate, refurbish, sew, quilt, craft, garden, cook, etc. Now, more than ever I wish that I’d paid more attention to her domestic ways when I was growing up. I guess I’ll have to take a crash course this summer. Until then
With the holiday of lovers fastly approaching, I thought it would be fun to make a list of my favorite couples (real and fictitious)- in no particular order.
1. My grandparents: Ruby and Lee
They have such a cute story. If I have it right, Grandpa met Grandma at a high school dance. He escorted her home even though he wasn't her date. Then he endured torture like only my Grandma's Italian aunts could dish out. Throughout the years they had their ups and downs, but always went through everything together.
2. Gordon B. Hinckley and Marjorie Pay
When they were alive they had such a beautiful relationship. He always talked about her with such love and respect-- as did she. I'm glad that they're reunited now. I got the impression that President Hinckley felt a little lost with out his sweetheart.
3. Isabella Swan and Edward Cullen
I know, I know! You're thinking Jenn, they're characters in a juvenile fiction series. But I can't help myself. Their story is so compelling-- a young girl and vampire who are madly in love even though the world is against them.
4. My in-laws: Clay and Penny
I have always admired their relationship. They knew each other when they were kids. In fact, I think Mom wrote Dad's name on her tennis shoes. It wasn't until college that everything came together for them. Ever since then they've been going through life hand in hand. I love them and will feel very blessed if Brandon and I can accomplish half of what they have.
5. Sabrina Fairchild and Linus Larrabee
You're thinking of it again-- Jenn's crazy. But if you truly know me you know that I've seen the movie Sabrina enough to have every line memorized. Why? Because I love the love story! It is unexpected-- sometimes your true love is the person you'd least expect.
6. Pam and Jim from "The Office"
Yet again, a fictitious couple. But I need to ask-- how many of you were hanging on the edge of your seat after he kissed her at the end of season 2? They are clearly meant for each other! They are best friends (and best friends make the cutest happiest couples).
7. My aunt and uncle: Jimmy and Loraine
I can't believe that I left them off this list the first time around! They are the most wonderful people in the world. Besides having hearts of gold, they have successfully raised six great children. In case you're reading this-- I love and adore you.
Yesterday Brandon left on a business trip. Before he left I started making a mental list of all the fun things I can do while he's away-- watch as much HGTV as I want, read novels until late at night, let the dog sleep with me, and eat out. So, guess what the first thing I did was? Turn on the Super Bowl for background noise. If that wasn't enough I also found myself ocassionally flipping to CNN to catch up on the latst election news (something that Brandon is constantly doing). I guess I miss him. Good thing he'll be home soon.
