The last part of our California adventure

After a big family bbq, 2 days at the beach, and 2 days at Disneyland we needed a break.  So, on Thursday morning we hung out at Papa's house and had a lazy morning watching cartoons on Disney Jr.

By the afternoon we were ready for another adventure, so we met our friends at the local splash pad for a lunch time playdate.  It took Wyatt awhile to warm up to the idea of playing in the water, but he came around. After a few hours of fun everybody was ready to take a break from the sun but not each other, so we just moved the party over to Wendy's house.  The kids had a great time playing together and Wendy and I visited.  After about an hour they were showing signs of exhaustion and I was showing signs of a sunburn, so we headed back to Papa's.

That night Papa took us out to dinner at Farrell's.  Ruby had been begging to go there-- mostly, because she remembered the awesome balloon animals that they made for her last time we were there.  Sadly, they had discontinued their partnership with the balloon animal company.  Whomp, whomp.  Good thing it's still a fun restaurant and that they still serve ice cream.  Ice cream makes everything better, right?

Our last day in town I knew we had to hit up one of my favorite places-- Irvine Park.  Ruby was onboard as soon as she heard about the pony rides.  Wyatt was hesitant at first, but he came around to the idea and went for a pony ride also.  Both of them enjoyed the train ride, but the highlight was the zoo and petting zoo.  We were literally the only ones there!  We must have spent 20-30 min petting and brushing the goats.  Ahh, the simple things!  On the way home we stopped for some Mexican food (when in California, right?) and then everyone took naps on the way back to Corona.  What else should you do if you're stuck in traffic for an hour?

We finished off the night with a mellow bbq at Papa's house.  By then I had thoroughly worn my children out.  They were ready to go home. lol

The next morning we packed up, played some games, and got on an airplane.  It was a fun week long adventure.  The only thing that would have made it better was if Daddy had been there-- and next year he will (along with a new baby)!
