California, Part 2

The next day Brandon and I took the kids down to Balboa Island.  We anticipated spending the day walking on the beach and having lunch at Ruby's on the pier.  When we got there we were pleasantly surprised by the weather and actually put on our swim suits and spent some time playing in the sand and water, too.

 
Wyatt loved the sand (understatement).  He honestly laid down on his belly and tried to kiss it! lol.  Ruby was a little shy about the waves, but had a great time building sand castles and digging for sand crabs.

 As a special bonus we saw a pod of dolphins frolicking just off shore.

Later that night the kids played with Papa and my step nieces.  It was quite possibly one of my favorite days of the trip.
