Toddler Talk

It's been awhile, so it seems appropriate to share all the funny things my adorable little munchkins have been saying over the past few months.

M- "Ruby, you need to choose a more fancy shirt for church today."
R- "But Mommy, this is fancy!  It has sparkles on it."

Wyatt is our little tumbler.  He is constantly jumping off of everything.  He is also very independent and likes insists on dressing himself.  Usually his pants and/or underwear are on backwards.  Sometimes it takes 10 minutes for him to put on his socks.  It's best to just leave the room and let him do it himself, though.  If you help him he'll just take it off and re-do it himself.

While we were eating lunch I passed Ruby a package of animal crackers.  She looked at the package and then said:
R- "This says zoo.  They must be zoo crackers, not animal crackers."
It was the first time she read anything!

W- "Biebra" (zebra)

Both Ruby and Wyatt pronounce pear "peer"

A few weeks before Christmas...
R- "I'm calling Jesus to tell him you are not being a good listener" (to Wyatt)
She then used her play phone to call Jesus.  Apparently, he told her to talk to Santa; so she called him as well.  After she hung up she told Wyatt that he needed to be good our he'll end up on the naughty list.  Santa's orders!

Wyatt's favorite phrase from December to mid January:
"Santa, Platypus (our elf on the shelf), and Jesus are watching!"  He'd repeat this whenever he saw any type of sketchy behavior.

Ruby pretended to order a Christmas present for Scout on her play phone.  When she was finished she proclaimed, "It will ship in 3 days!"  Like mother, like daughter? lol

R-"Mommy, are we watching this movie?" (referring to It's a Wonderful Life).
M- "Yes, it's a classic."
R-(almost in tears) "But, it doesn't have any colors!"

W-"I'm a big girl!" (Also an oft repeated phrase.  No matter how many times we try to convince him that he's actually a big boy he refuses to believe it and keeps repeating, "No, I'm a big girl!"  That's what happens when your idol is your big sis, I guess.)

W-(while pushing his pirates in their boat) "I go shopping.  Yo, ho, ho!"

A week or so ago Brandon and Ruby were rough housing in the kitchen.  It really worried Wyatt.  He continually repeated: "Daddy, be nice!  Be nice! Santa's watching!"

M-"Wyatt, would you like Peityn to come over?"
W-"Peityn takes my tracks."
hmmmm, is that a no? lol

Today at the grocery store Ruby was REALLY tired (and I'm pretty sure that she was coming down with something).  She started crying and confessed: "Today we sang too much at preschool. It hurt my head!"
